Every year is 365.242199 days long.
We compensate by having an extra day ever 4 years.
For this to make sense wouldn't a year have to be exactly 365.25 days long.
And if so, where is this extra time coming from, it definitely adds up.

so would that mean that eventually january will be summer and june will be winter.. because the time has gotten so far behind the actual rotation after like 100s of years?

Only kinda. Time, as normal people look at it, is man made. But, there definitely is a naturally occurring form of time.

You know that whole controversy with the 13th Zodiac sign? That's where the time went.

This highdea blew my mind. My brains were, like ...duuhuhuude said, all over the wall and ceiling.
Then I read leemullinsii's comment, and it picked my brains up off the walls and ceiling, put them in a bucket, and blew them again.
Then I read chardi's comment, and it scraped my brains from the walls and ceiling once again, and blew them a third time, making them the consistency of ground beef.
Then I read Quantum_Chronic's comment, and it put my ground-beef-brains in a blender with some ice and milk or whatever and made a goddamn milkshake out of them.
Damn.

Everyone says it's every 4 years because it's easy, but they actually think about that and are monitoring that. One of these days, it'll be after 5 years. No biggie.

We're saving up that extra time so we can cash it in later. Like in 2012 the Mayans will be like "Oh shit times up!" and we'll be like "Nah man we've saved up extra days, so we can stay for a few more billion years."

Fuck I don't know....

Also, from what I've figured, we've "left out" a total of 35,494,550 years....that is, if this has been the same for all of earths life so far...

Babylon system keeping us out of rhythm with nature and our mother Gaia. We should re-adopt the Mayan calendar or the Gaulish lunar calendar. They were way more accurate and kept in tune with Earth's natural cycles.

Sorry to be a buzz kill but to compensate for the slight difference, years that are divisible by 100 that would have been leap years (because 100 is divisible by 4) are not leap years in the Gregorian calendar, unless that year is also divisible by 400. This still isn't perfect but the length of the year is also changing so no system can be perfect. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leap_year

We talked about this in my astronomy class. But yeah , your right it would have to be exactly 365.25 days but im pretty sure we add an extra day every thousand years or something to fix that
