smoking and driving

my mom was being annoying and giving me a talk about smoking and driving today and saying how dangerous it is what not. and i also hear it in health class since our subject for the past two weeks as been marijuana. but really.. is it that bad being high and driving? it's a thing a lot of smokers do, drive around and smoke. i personally think it makes me more of an alert driver becuase i especially don't want to deal with the cops because i'm high. but i think the dangers people talk about being high while driving is over exaggerated, anyone with me?

i more than agree. we all blunt ride for a reason lol. and about focusing more so u dont deal with cops is so true.

i find it hard to drive stoned. i focus on the road instead of stuff on the side like kids on bikes and crap. and i drive too slow hahah

my car is a stick shift so its hard to drive when i am high but i love doing it otherwise, i wish i had an automatic sometimes.

i smoke and drive so much i made my cupholder my ashtray

I love driving stoned, cranking up the tunes and feeling like I'm one with my car.
There were studies done too that say that driving stoned is safer than driving while texting.
I'm way safer than some pre-pubescent-teen-girl texting her friend "omg lyke lol rite???"

how is she driving if shes pre-pubescent?

its really only dangerous because its extremely illegal. I got arrested for smoking and driving and had gotten a DUI, 3 months probation, and 5 days in jail. New york, new york...

Yeah, if you've ever noticed when you're smoking and driving, you pay a lot less attention to your periphery. It's not that the weed physically takes away your peripheral vision; it causes you to focus and look straight ahead most of the time, so be careful.

While I do enjoy the occasional blunt ride, I try not to get too stoned when I'm the one driving. The first few times I did were the most amazing experiences though. I drive a manual and I actually felt like I was a part of the car; it was fucking amazing. I find myself doing it less and less though, simply because I don't want to fuck up my car or anyone else's property.

Exercise a bit of common sense and pay attention while you drive stoned, don't get TOO high (no hash oil and driving :p) and I don't think it is too dangerous.

I don't agree with it at all. Driving stoned is like drunk. Your senses are not where they should be.
I blaze all the time, don't get me wrong, but I never drive. it's not safe. and If you hit someone or crash,
serious shit can come from it.

i usually drive after my high plateaus. but i dont race, or drive stupid. i take in consideration of my handicap.

i drive standard too, its no harder for me to drive stick cause i dont even pay attention to the clutch or gears, its all 2nd nature.

I smoked every day when I got my license, and the first day I drove not high I got into an accident. Enough said.

lol i think if you are a not-so-great driver sober, dont drive high!
if you drive well normally, and you are confident in your driving, then there really isnt any issue except for the fact that its illegal. if you get bad eyes, then visine (OR WHATEVER) is a must man.

It has been proven that driving while high on weed is not a problem. The impairment is very minimal and when you are high you realize that you are slightly impaired and OVER compensate. Where as when you drive drunk you under compensate for your impairment. And as a final point, the impairment experienced after using marijuana in the last 1-3 hours is less than or equal to the impairment experienced when driving with a LEGAL amount of alcohol in your system.

that answer just pwned everyone elses, i wanna give you a high five

Sorry, but nothing can be "proven" in science; you can only provide evidence to support your position (hypothesis). While some people might be fine, others might be completely incapable of operating a car while high. There will always be exceptions.

then give us another 'theory' on the LAWS of physics.
An object in motion stays in motion unless acted upon by another force. Cmon, wheres the exception?
;)

so, i drive high all the time, and i really don't think it impairs me. however, i never smoke and drive, strictly for legal reasons. if you get pulled over there is just no way around it, you and whoever you are with are probably going to jail. stop, smoke, then drive again

dude im a delivery driver and i have blazed tons of times on the job. perfectly fine

Carefull... otherwise how else am i to make road trips??? hotbox that bitch, & buy "bluntpower"....

Okay i so agree with this. When i drive high, all im doing the whole time is focusing on the road so i dont swerve and going the complete exact speed limit. Like, your stoned so you like, make sure the speed limit is perfect. and you dont wanna fuckin get pulled over high! driving stoned is fine. the only thin negative i could think of is your reaction time. Like, say you look over your shoulder to make a lane change cause the car in front of you is slowing down, and as you look over your shoulder you see a car coming in that lane, you turn back around and the car that was slowing down in front of you is now stopped. your going 40. your ten feet behind it.... i totaled my car this way :(

first of all i'd like to say i fucking love weed, so this is in no way against weed from me, but its true some cognitive and information-processing functions are affected when high, so it's better to driver sober
but it's also true that being high while driving doesn't contribute too significantly to driving accidents and usually drivers who get into fatal accidents while high have alcohol alongside thc in their blood
also, high drivers tend to be more careful, so that helps
so i wud recommend it not being a first choice, but it's not extremely bad if u r driving while high
