How to use cars without gasoline

We can take big magnets and install them in roads. Then the government takes all gasoline cars. When you buy a new car it has the same magnet in the road then it will propell the car forward to stop or go slow you use the brake. No more gas required.

cars should all be on tracks...ohhh or better yet programmable into the road!!!....at least on the highway, then you just sit back, relax and light one

not at all a new idea. the first maglev trains were used in germany in the 80s and its wat powers the bullet train in japan. but i like where ur head is at

You'd probably want an electromagnet in the car so that you could control speed with a power pedal and a break. It would be better than using the break to control your speed, because that's a lot of friction. Your breaks would be shot in no time. You'd still need some power, but hopefully not a lot. Basically we need full sized bumper cars.

dude so weird i have thought the same thing many times they should do it .

he's not talking about using magnets to levitate the vehicle he's talking about using them to propel the vehicle which is not how anything works because it wouldn't work. Passive magnets can NOT do work by themselves, I learned this in physics class. Energy isn't free, if you want kinetic energy i.e. your car moving forward your gonna have to get the energy from somewhere, there's no infinite energy in magnets or anywhere else. The only way this would work is if the magnetic field was powerful as you approached the next magnet in the road and weak as you move away from the last one, or vice versa if they're repelling magnets. But you have to put energy into that system to make it work, defeating the purpose.
