Isn't it wierd that we only use 10% of our brains, I'm gonna spend my free-high time working on using 11% of my brain. Then everyone will bow to my 1% of superior brain power.

you use a lot more than 10% of your brain. this is a really dumb rumor. sorry to be smug about it but i mean if people would think about this for 10 minutes instead of accepting it theyd realize how retarded it sounds

than how much of our brain do we use? smart ass?

We use atleast 30% when we are just sitting there doing nothing. When we are actually moving around and doing stuff then we use a lot more. Check facts before you call someone a smart ass for no reason.

Yeah we use all of our brain, the rumor about the 10% is becuase when your watching TV braindead you'll use about 10%. When you grab your bowl it might go to 15% for a little while. It's kinda like a CPU of computer the more things you ask from your brain to compress the more % it will use.

If humans used 100% of their brains we'd be able to make shit levitate just by thinking about it. I think that in this physical universe we live in we will never be able to use all of it.

Yehh that's a total lie and myth the way your brain is seperated into diff parts, you may only use 10% at average but if you were to multi task by, listening to music, while telling a story, while rolling a blunt, while thinking about something that's going on you may be using a total of 26%, tanner12143's way of explaining it is actually a really good way to explain it, your brain uses a certain % according to what your doing and what part of your brain your using in the doing of it, like I said your brain is seperated into diff parts an 1 part of you brain culd be 8% active cuz your jus sittin there talking, but if you start talkin then start writing stuff on a paper at the same time the part of your brain that has to do with writing an moventment an thinking about the spelling of words will become active to an so on an so forth.

And Mrfrye that's not true at all its been tested and you do not use 30% of your brain just sitting there sitting still so check YOUR fact, the average person sitting
There let's say watching tv only uses 10%, that's like 4% of processing the words, another 4% of proccessing what the tvs saying an the other 2% jus sitting there, they did this shit on mythbuster an even when they did an activity that wuld activate all the differnt parts of your brain that u averagely use
With shit, the results wasn't even close to 30%.

Mythbusters tested this myth and went to multiple neuroscientists and they ran tests and shit and the brain "power" they were using was 30% something percent when he was just laying down in a MRI machine. sooo yeah, my facts have been checked and tested so stfu
i dont know what mythbusters you saw

Mon, 12/13/2010 - 3:20pm

that rumor is completely discredited by neuroscience. just sayin.

Although it's true that at any given moment all of the brain's regions are not concurrently firing, brain researchers using imaging technology have shown that, like the body's muscles, most are continually active over a 24-hour period. "Evidence would show over a day you use 100 percent of the brain," says John Henley, a neurologist at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. Even in sleep, areas such as the frontal cortex, which controls things like higher level thinking and self-awareness, or the somatosensory areas, which help people sense their surroundings, are active, Henley explains

Okay, just to be clear, even if you really, reaaalllly want it to be, Mythbusters is not a credible source that can overpower actual published research. I've worked in a neurobiology lab and conducted studies in the field, and can tell you that every neuron in your brain is will most likely fire at least once. At any given time, not 100% of neurons are firing, because that is not how the brain works and would not be like being more intelligent. A seizure is when all of the neurons in your brain are firing at once.

You use all of your brain, just not more than roughly 1/3 of it at any given time.

Same thing everyone above said but sweet and simple.
