Opposite of a Microwave

Why does there not exist a home appliance that very quickly cools something down? Like if you have a case of beer that's room temperature and you want to make it ice cold, the only thing you can do is put it in the freezer and wait an hour. Fuck that. And this isn't a completely outrageous idea. Maybe one could take liquid nitrogen and blow air over it on the thing you want to cool down. That would probably work.

I have had that very same problem. The best way to make stuff cold fast with household items is to mix a lot of ice with some water in a sink or a bucket or big bowl, using enough water to cover whatever items you want cold, and then pour in a good amount of salt into the mix, which lowers the freezing point of water and brings the ice bath down another five or so degrees. You might not being able to fit in a whole case at once, but you can easily chill a six-pack in 15 minutes.

Well if anyone saw the episode of MythBusters, the quickest way to cool down a beer is with a CO2 Fire extinquisher. Not very practical financially, but if was proven to be the fastest. I too would like to see something invented that would cool a beer down in less than a minute, but until then, Ice, Water and salt, (icecream salt works the best) and in 13 minutes. Cold Beer!
