Mirrors pointed at each other
Ok, i have this crazy theory that actually would be legit if it could be done. Imagine you had a huge mirror on Earth, and then you put a huge mirror on some distant planet far away from our galaxy. If you could line them so you could see the mirror on the planet, would the image you see in the mirror be you from the past or what? What do you think?

has to, because light takes time to travel. if its far away, then it must be the past, how wild would that be that it would take that long for us to see our reflection, that kind of makes you think.
ya itd crazy seeing yourself in a reflection from like many lightyears away
what if their was already a mirror or reflecting object in space and we just havent found it yet? maybe we could look at the reflection of the light which would be the earth years ago (depending on how many lightyears the reflection is away) we would see our planet possibly before we were here and prove how humans started. A way to look into the past
^^would be extremely possible, with a very strong telescope
this makes me want to smoke with you haha and see what else you think of that will blow my mind haha
that wouldn't work...how would we see our reflection? you'd only see a reflection of Earth. you'd have to be as big as the mirror for that to work.
Holy crap... mind fuck...
[[Rock as fuck && Stoned as a rock]]
you just scared the shit out of me, bro.
"I get high with a little help from my friends."
yes, you would because what you're seeing is the light reflected at that time. Light takes time to travel therefore you would be seeing it in the past just as you are looking at stars and anything else visible int he sky in the past.
yes.
you are correct. but check this... if i could just contact nasa.. but if we could create a bug.. okay.. and this bug could breath anything. we could send it.. like a butterfly.. they are so fast. it takes so long to catch one. this bug could take pictures and we would know this.... if i was sober more this would be much harder to explain so i am now. peace.
Zee
dude, by the time they get those mirrors there you'll be dead, and looking in the past is pretty useless...just like a big ass expensive video
Damn, Debbie Downer
awesome idea, props for being one of the first legit 'science' highDEAs I've seen.
Like so the mirror on the other planet was reflecting back light from Earth? In that case yeah the light you see would have left Earth some time before you see it. Just like the light we see from the sun is light that happened 8 minutes ago, but its happening for us now.
You should read A Brief History of Time, that shit is deep

I highly recommend this book, it will completely turn your perception of reality inside out. Best to read it sober then pack a nice fat bowl and think about how ridiculous our reality is, better with friends. The book doesn't use any formulas, just thought experiments. Get it from a library if you wanna save the 20 bucks for some dank
ive always thought that man. but what we would see would be like YEARS in the past. like hundreds of years. like if we would have put a mirror up in BC, wed just now be seeing shit from the 1800's. crazy right?
You would see yourself, there would simply be a delay due to the fact that light doesn't travel instantly, and depending on the distance it could be years. You could look into the mirror through a telescope, and not see the telescope if it was put there recently due to the delay. Imagine watching the building you where in be built while standing in the finished product... Thats really trippy. Good post.
