It's weird to think that we, as humans, do not come anywhere near to understanding the complexity of the one thing that we use to sense and make sense of everything in our world. That thing being our brain. How can we be sure what we "know" is certain when we don't even fully understand the thing that makes us think that?

this thought reminds me so much of my philosophy class.we can never really know anything, all we have is our beliefs and our a nutshell thats what i think at least

i think about that all the time and one other thing i wonder is that we only use on average osmethin like 5 perent of our brain but theres an actual amount of info ur brain can hold..i wonder what wuld happen if u reached that limit and ur brain just couldnt retain any more info

fortunately that's a myth, all parts of our brain have a function, they just dont all function at the same time. And I dont think it could reach a limit, I remember learning in psych class that our long term memory has an infinite capacity (or at least within our life time).
Thanks for the comment though, and not just posting that link.

also i think the brain would like expand upon itself if it hit the limit. Because if we only use 5% of our brains potential then maybe right now our brains are only the way they are because its holding itself in a 5% mode. Related thought is like with what we see. Our eyes only can see a certain spectrum of color. What if theres things everywhere that we cannot see because there some color that as far as we know doesnt exist? Like ghosts and spirits are there but we cant see them because there out of our spectrum.

we don't use 5% of our brains, we use the whole thing.. that's a myth that doesn't make any sense if you actually think about it..

yeah you're probably right about the brain expanding upon itself. I doubt any one would ever just not be able to learn anything new, unless they had alzheimers or some shit. And i like the way your thinking ahah high minds think alike - (its related i promise lol)

not all just about memory, there is conscious and unconscious thought (think breathing). I had a theory that since we do only use a portion of our brain for conscious thought that the rest of that is going to things like memory, but not just memory. Things like telling our cells where to go and telling them to do tasks we don't have to think about (healing wounds, organ function, and even digesting food)processing senses is also something our brain is constantly doing. This may already be known, but i haven't studied the human brain very much. Either way this post is a mind fuck.

in science nothing is certain, the only thing that can be said is the degree of correlation, but correlation isn't reason for causation, so nothing can actually be proven, but obviously extremely high correlations are more valid

Let's say: You're thinking about the electrical impulses that go off in your brain... and then you're electrical impulses start going off in your brain because you're thinking about them, but then don't there have to be electrical impulses that have to observe those first electrical impulses to actually create the thought about thinking about the electrical impulses themselves?

Or also if you use a certain area of your brain to think, then is that part of the brain activated when its thinking about itself?
