someone posted something about obama
and it reminded me.... obama is only half black, and he is considered our first black president... im sure there was a president in the past that had a sliver of black in him, why didn't he get recognition as our first black president? clearly you don't have to be all black to be considered black. so i guess it would be safe to say obama is our 44th white president.. he's half white after all.

The details of his ethnic/racial split are irrelevant b/c the voters see him as black, and his name sounds like its straight outta Africa. Its a well established fact that in politics public perception is paramount, not technicalities & facts. As far as mulattoes are concerned, Derek Jeter is half black/half white and he doesn't look nearly as black as Barack Obama. I am taking an africology class this semester. The book talks about a lawsuit in the 1970's saying a woman wanted her records to say she was white but because she was 1/32 black there was no change. It is worth mentioning this was in the US.
