solution to all this different color talk.
okay so i am gonna attempt to crack this "everyone sees different colors" thing... okay so maybe my red is ur blue or your yellow is my pink... well lets talk heat... we understand that colors go from warm colors like red and orange to cool colors like blue and violet.... so if we all seen different colors then it would completly defy physics and what we all know as heat. like the sun burning a certain degree and being a certain color to the center of a light flame being a certain color.

Great point.
Something else to chew on: we've all heard of people who are "color blind" but most people don't know much about it. There are a lot of different color deficiencies that people can have. I met a guy who's eyes were red-deficient, meaning that purples looked like blue to him, etc. When you get old, the lens of your eye starts to harden and turn yellow, which greatly effects the way you view color. That's why old people's houses and clothes are sometimes extremely tacky.
Anyway, considering that we're capable of pinpointing deficiencies in people's color perception, you have to assume that there is an agreeable standard of which color is which.
Also, much less complicated, we would not be able to teach each other how to mix colors when we're finger-painting if we didn't all see the same colors.
ever since the first time i ate mushies i could distinguish between colors a hell of a lot better. lol not surprising tho i guess.
but hold up what if we do see different colors it is just understood to be like for example red an apple is red to us but i may see it as green and the dude next to me may see it as blue but its red because thats what we kno it to be....right? but no matter how i explian it or say it noone ever understands me!!! its crazy
i totally understand. my friend has been saying that for years. cuz she's as sharp as a butter knife. (getting death stare now.)
My contribution to the solution is this:
The emotions you get from colors. They come from specific colors and everyone gets them from the same colors. Now there is no way two people could feel the same emotion based on one color just because the name is 'red'. Our emotions felt through colors is a natural thing, it's not learned. Red is aggressive, blue is calm, etc. etc. The word is not natural the color is what is natural. We all feel the same emotions when seeing the same colors so I conclude we all see the same colors.
(And we all came from the same place pretty much. It would be weird for all our eyes, after evolving together for so long, to all work differently and randomly)
we all have different perspectives of the color spectrum though. it won't be as varied as one person's pink is another person's green, but one person's pink could be another person's purple. (haven't you ever argued with someone over whether a shirt is green or blue or any other pair of close colors?) the distinction as to where one color ends and one begins varies from person to person
Deiceide you made my stomach hurt, but I like what you talked about which is wierd. ima go get blazed so moreeeeerdf
We all see the same colours yo, its physics eh. Just think about it with the fire....we may know it goes from red and orange to violet and blue but still we would each have our own perception of what each of those colours look like. It's not a valid arguement.. The only solution is that we evolved from the the elements around us so we must have an inate similarity of recognizing a colour to be its true form. We all see the same red and the same blue. Also watch this video at about 8 minute in....ITS CRAZY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPHOvuFzC4w....everyone see's the same colours yo
IN CONCLUSION as a post of mine stated a few days ago, stop posting that redivulous fucking idea over and over. Red is red and most importantly, green is green
but nothing is absolute
so red is red because that's what you've been taught
but what is the colour red really??
My rebuddle to the "solution" of the color problem:
The problem here, lies with language. No matter what, if an apple is described as red, and the sky as blue, then these things become the standard of what red IS or what blue IS. No matter what color a person may see, these things are called 'red' and 'blue'. Therefore, if you perceive a blue apple, but of course it's 'red' to you, then you also perceive a bluish fire, and all things heat related would have a bluish hue to them. These are your 'warm' colors, and even though you see them as blue, you call them 'red' because 'red' is the standard for them. No matter if we all see different colors or not, if we can all say that an apple is 'red' (regardless of what color we actually perceive) then there is no problem.
I've thought about this too. and it is true, each person sees his own version of colors.
Aristotle i think talks about this. and if it wasnt him it was either the stoics/academics, epicurians, or plato).
what i see as blue you may see as orange. but its the same because we've seen it our whole lives and have learned to call it by the same name. and if my orange was your blue then itd be the same name as well, or hell, make it 3 or 4 or 5 or 9 color rotation like that. mix allt he colors up, it'd still be called the same, and thus seem the same, but they could be different.
(but then that leads to the question: what about black? is what we see at night a color, black? or the absence of color? then what does that say about the color black? its not really a color then is it? or its all color [think of mixing all kinds of paints together and you get black] haha
so lets just assume anything BUT black is a color, and what we see as being black on a canvas after mixing paints should be categorized as a different collor called "Allcolor". and lets not even go into white right now.)
if this was the case then, couldnt one also say that colors flow to each person in his or her own way? haha
and for those of you who may say "well what about clothes and colors that 'match'" well, 'matching' clothes and 'matching' colors were created by people long ago in different cultures (look at color combinations of the spanish vs those of the american indians, or of the africans, or asian) . and if thats not the case, and if it acutally is aesthetically pleasing, then we could say the flow of colors may look different to others, but itd be the same for all.
but to find out whether or not its aesthetically pleasing, we'd have to do an experiment raising kids to see "mispaired" colors and then showing them what we believe to be matching colors and see if they find it aesthetically pleasing. and then that brings up the idea of primary and secondary colors and so forth. If this were the case, then primary colors would be the proof for the flow of colors. right? haha
does my train of thought make sense at all? haha
that doesnt solve it really.
like; i could see apples as YOUR blue (my red), and the sun as YOUR brown (my yellow). my warm colors could be yellow and brown (your red and orange), and my cool colors could be black and green (your blue and violet). you see what im saying? but this is something that cant be solved because we'll never figure out how each individual human perceives the world differently. to the individual human colors seem normal because ever since we were born orange was orange and it always has been and we always perceive orange the same everytime. thats why hallucinogens can be really spiritual because you can perceive the world in a whole different way. possibly the way you feel when youre high is how i feel when im drunk and vise versa, crazy shit
One of the most mind-bending things tho, is the fact that hottese colors in science and physics are blue. The coldest are red, followed by orange, then yellow. So our perception varies on how much we know about physics and temperatures. So your argument is void seeing as you don't know much about what you're talking about.
it would be void? but then how can u explain colour bindness vs to what your taught in your physics class...heres the process a law is based on so many observations before it is accepted to be true. A theory is based on observations before it becomes a law...so then it cant be void because no one has really cared if red is blue and green is yellow they just said "o well who cares move on" but then look back to all of the minds of history that have combated with the laws of their own time...i think its time to think out side the box rather that to stay stuck in it once your armed with the knowage and researched about every topic...
well mabey not colour bindness it too elementary compared to this
i never thought of people seeing colors like,, randomly
but i always wondered if someone's red is more red then another persons red
like more saturated or lighter or darker
"whyy when i'm not highh does my life feel like its missin somethin? i knowww that iii must be high so that i can function :)"
we all see the same colors we see what we call red which is to 600-700 m, wavelength range its really more of a question of how each of our brains interprets the colors. So even though me and a friend are both seeing blue (~400-475 nm) we may have completely different interpretations of how the color appears. Its all relative to the observer. This may also explain why each person finds different colors appealing.
but then how can u explain colour bindness vs to what your taught in your physics class...heres the process a law is based on so many observations before it is accepted to be true. A theory is based on observations before it becomes a law...so then it cant be void because no one has really cared if red is blue and green is yellow they just said "o well who cares move on" but then look back to all of the minds of history that have combated with the laws of their own time...i think its time to think out side the box rather that to stay stuck in it once your armed with the knowage and researched about every topic...

either way im not arguing the physics behind this rather how the brain processes it....much of our brain is still a mystery rather the unphysical parts like the mind...
