how do deaf people think?

When i think 2 myslf I think sounded out words just like anyone else. But, if ur born deaf u have never heard any words sounded out so therefore they cant think like that. So wtf. If your deaf please enlighten me as to hoow u ovrcome this problem.

I actually have known some people who are deaf (and yes, they can and do think), and I asked one of them once what form her thoughts take. She explained to me that she thinks partly in ASL (American Sign Language), and partly in pictures. It's really not much different from anyone else thinking in the language they know, except just that ASL obviously isn't a spoken language.

i have your answer, deaf people don't sound out words in their head, but they see the whole word as a unit. Each unit belongs to an object. For example they see the word "chair" written down and they know that "chair" is fingerspelled a certain way and they know that that combination of signs is the object "chair". Hope that make sence, kinda hard to explan, plus i'm really high haha.

I don't think in words, I think in pictures and colors and sounds. I think in images. But it may have something to do with having a high IQ and being left handed. But since I don't think in words, I would imagine deaf people very well wouldn't have to. It's just something you adapt to.

im also left handed and have a high iq (not to gloat or anything) but i find i also like to visualize certain things, but i still think orally depending on what is on my mind, simply because some things require deeper cognitive thought and it is hard to visualize into pictures rather then words
that being said, how do deaf people process deep cognitive thought or abstract ideas? that could be trippy as fuck

There was a giant of a man near where I used to live in a state run facility. He was born blind and deaf along with Down's syndrome. Everyday when they took him outside, he would scream and scream and scream and scream and scream. I new one of the kind folks who hellped take care of this man, he said that was all he did, ever. Scream and scream and scream and scream. Sometimes, I still hear him in my sleep, and I get real scared cause like, whats he screaming AT? Screaming and screaming, rage and fear and lust and pain and empty and full and screaming to it all forever. Wow, now I'm bummed out and feel like SCREAMING and SCREAMING myself. Have a good day.
