I'm glad to be a person

I was just thinking how lucky we are to be people. I mean, we could have been born as anything. Frogs. Pigs. Earthworms. But we weren't. We were born people. How awesome is that?

There's good and bad to being human. I mean, sure, I'm grateful every day to be able to think, plan, use abstract language, etc...and not having predators chasing us all the time sure is nice too! However, humans are the only ones who have to deal with a silly monetary system, working and working just to retire with almost nothing, politicians who lie incessantly, etc. So I'm not sure that any one species has it better in the long run. However...I can't help but think it must seriously rock to be a bonobo (as long as bushmeat hunters aren't chasing you).
