Are we addicted to weed?

I feel like I can physically quit smoking weed if I needed to, but I don't want to or need to. It just makes life better, there are no negatives or consequences.

It's not like if you keep smoking tobacco, you will get cancer. Weed doesn't make our body crave itself with asshole chemicals. It just attracts your mind, just like true love.

Blaze on.

Its not addictive but it has some shit in it that makes our body and mind feel like we need it or if you smoke to foget about something when ever you think about it your body will make you want to smoke...read up on it

If i could i would pass it through the computer|Sir_Toke_Alot|

weed is addictive. just like anything else you make a habit. like biting your fingernails. that "shit" sir toke alot is talking about is THC. also, its likely weed will give you cancer, especially the chemically treated bullshit we are forced to smoke because it is illegal. read up on it.

Dude you need to get read up on some shit and stop trusting one thing you read on the internet and never finding anything else to back it up. I like this one because its a video.

If this link doesn't work look up Dr. Tashkin and marijuana.

chemicals. I wasn't necessarily talking about the weed itself. thought I am fairly confident that smoking, no matter what it is, can only be detrimental to your health. I could find one video supporting anything on the internet. I could find a video supporting scientology. so congrats. i tried to watch it, but it was to boring.

Yes inhaling heated plant matter isn't the best thing for your lungs. But its really the heat that does the damage, which your lungs can recover from very easily. Have you ever eaten something so hot it burned your throat. It heals really fast, way faster than any burn on the outside of your body. Its basically the same thing only you don't actually burn your lungs to the degree that you would with food. But don't misunderstand my first comment. You said, "its likely weed will give you cancer" This is NOT TRUE. I'm tired of people say this because the more people say it the more people will believe it. And if marijuana is ever going to get legalized then we need to stop spreading the "yellow journalism" that made it illegal in the first place and start spreading the truth. Because the more we tell the truth the more people will start believing in this truth. And who knows, maybe then people will hunt for the truth and find the real facts.

I've been tryin to say the same thing man! maybe we should look into being lobbyists for the ever loved Chronic.. i think i will

You are right. I have nothing to back up weed giving you cancer. But I am fairly confident that the chemically treated, god only knows how old, and potentially lead laced weed (some dickhead dealers put all kinds of shit in their weed to make it weigh more) could give us cancer. Like, I don't smoke cigs, but I tend to develop the same "smokers cough" that people who do smoke them have. That's gotta mean something. I felt like a dick, so I watched the video. You are very convincing, unfortunately one video won't do it for me. Do you have access to any study documents or anything? Shit's impossible to find, especially a legitimate study. Are you into science? I say we do these studies ourselves. Thanks for putting me in my place. I tend to be very stubborn. :/

Check this one out. This is the one I tried to find before. Its the same guy but he goes into what he study and then talks about other studies in different country's that got the same results. Its also during a lecture he is giving to a class I think.

Its this link and its the Smoked Cannabis Effect on Lungs part 1, 2, and 3.

Theres also a documentary called The Union: The business behind getting high. Its the best one i've seen and I really like the fact that it tells the sources they got the information from in writing on the bottom of the screen. That way if your like me you can look up the study and find things like this to back it up. And you should really take into account that 45% of weed in North America comes from the United States. Its not really big gangsters growing this stuff. Its young white suburbans who see huge profit in growing a few plants in there house. And they tend to grow for there own use as well so its not in there best interest to grow it with a lot of chemicals or lead for that matter. There are some people who lace there weed with something to make it shine and look better so they can charge more. But thats just all the more reason to fight for it be legalized.

thanks alot captain bring down

Anytime skipper

yeah man i'm definitely addicted to some degree. i guess more of a controlled dependency? if i dont have bud i'm in a shitty mood til i get it. but if i HAD to stop i could.

exactly dude

yeah but fuck stopping, weed is straight up apart of me.. i wouldn't be myself with out it

There are a million more habitual things to be worried about. You could argue that habitual coffee drinking is worse.

You don't have to argue that habitual coffee drinking is worse. It is.

Caffeine in coffee creates a physical dependence. Caffeine thins the blood, and is regularly used with headache pills along with things like Acetaminophen. If your body gets used to a constant supply of that, and is suddenly deprived of it, you will go through noticeable withdrawals involving headaches, grogginess because your body is not used to making itself wake up, but allowing the caffeine to do it for you.

THC is not "addictive".

You like it, so you don't want to stop. That's not addiction.

Addiction is when you want to stop, but you can't. Like cigarettes. I just quit smoking cigarettes after 3-4 years of trying. THAT is addiction.

Spread the logic.

"If Your Happy And You Know It Smoke A Bowl."

nah man not a single person in the world is addicted to weed
they might be deeply in love with weed but thats 2 different thing
i mean crack heads rob people for crack, stoners just get bumed when theyre
out and go to bed, we hurt no one, so no your not addicted

There is nothing wrong with enjoying the gift of mother nature! how could anyone smoke and then say, this is bad for everyone, and your bad if you smoke it!

Seriously agreed, spread the logic!

yeah, exactly, natural

i think that often. because like right now man i am not SUPPOSED to smoke cuz i got some court b/s....but then again its like...welllllll IFFF i REALLY need to pass a drug test....i totally could :)
sooo...im gunna smoke some more weed... :)
cheesin :D

I know, if I knew in advance when I needed to stop (temporarily) for a necessary drug test, I'd definitely be able to. It'd be hard, but I could.

i always saw weed as a mental addiction rather than a physical addiction

Yeah, I agree. Is that bad? Someone share some knowledge on this idea.

"drugs dont give you addictions , they give you cravings for the flavor!"

I've taken a semester of psychology of addictions so far and am on my second semester so im not the most knowledgable on the subject, however I've learned that marijuana "addiction" is just a mental addiction, and could be compared to a world of warcraft addiction etc.. the reverse tolerance in weed actually makes it less addictive then most perscription drugs meaning that as you smoke weed more often it takes less to get you high..

well thats simply not true, i used to get fluffed up on one bowl, now 2 years later, it takes at least a fat ass blunt

An addiction is when your body becomes physically dependent on something, its impossible to become physically dependent on weed, unless you are in a state of life where you need it to keep living, example cancers, depression, ect. but thats when you need weed so you wont die. its been proven that caffeine is more addictive then marijuana, we all just really like to smoke and dont want to stop, and if you think about all of us have some kind of legitimate reason for smoking, and that why we do it, wether it be we're too stressed, have anxiety, depression, ADD or any type of pain we all know weed can cure it. And weed will never cause cancer if you just smoke weed, THC fights irregular cells (thats what cancer is), so it destroys cancer, that is why if you have cancer you should looking into hash oil, which concentrates the THC from any where from 20%-60%, most weed is around 8-10%, Green House seed Co. has come out with strains with THC percentage in the 20s, but anyways hash oil is the cure for cancer, any type of cancer this oil WILL cure it. Follow this link and educate yourself a little further about our beloved cannabis, its a wonderful plant. keep smoking friends.

this website will tell you everything you need to know about hash oil and how to cure yourself, im sure most of you wont want to read the site, so just watch the video and how people have saved them selves with marijuana. :)

Man I thought I was extremely addicted, I smoked all day everyday. I went through an once of weed a week (I grow so have a lot)
But I had to quit for an upcoming job and I thought it was gonna be hard but I'm on day 7 now and it's really not all that bad :]

dude no one is addicted to weed some think they are but dude theyre not really

thanks for the comments guys, keep em coming. seems like there are two sides to this debate. I, personally, just think that I'm mentally addicted to weed, because it's a fun thing to do. I have no dependence on it though.

i love looking at all these comments and all the sources for different information. who says stoners aren't productive??

I use weed everyday and I love the feeling it gives me and I have stopped for tolerance breaks and its definitely not fun. It's do-able just not worth it really.

Been thinking about this a lot lately. I figure, it does more good than harm (If any).

Every day people die from cigarettes.
You NEVER hear about death from marijuana , but on the other hand, smoking anything (weed, cigarettes etc,) can be harmful to the lungs. I smoked cigarettes for over ten years, finally decided to quit when I couldn't afford them anymore. Just started smoking a LOT more marijuana. And actually I feel better physically. I haven't had any of the prob's I had when I was smoking cigarettes (pneumonia, bronchitis)

For those who say, "it's addictive",(marijuana), PPSSSHT! I smoke every day, several times a day.
And there have been times I've stopped smoking, and never had any
problems with it.

**~~ I get by with a little help from my friends,oh, I get high with a little help from my friends **~~

Well, we are all mentally addicted to weed. However, if we were physically addicted to weed, taking a one day break would be really difficult. We would experience stomachaches, cold sweats, trembling, etc..the only withdrawal I get from taking tolerance breaks is thinking to myself..man I cant wait to smoke again. It's kind of like getting off of a great rollercoaster. You say "man that was so fun. I would love to do it again but the line is long and I don't want to bore myself. Let's go check out something else and then come back to this"
