Do you have to Fight anyone to be a KungFu Master?
I recently decided to be KungFu Master and realized from my 8months of Tae Kwon Do training that we never fought anyone. We just broke some boards to get to a belt then had some Chips and Punch. Was a good time really but in my quest to be the greatest KungFu Master will i have to fight anyone?

it sounds like there is a global kung fu cold war. No one fights in kung fu because it is just to powerful.
There could be full kung fu release and devestate the planet.
Nice one Bro.
There is nothing common about my masturbating. VOnEric
to be a master no you dont have to fight to be a god you must defeat bruce lee DUHN DUHN DUHNNN!!!!!!!
~~//**i smell something in the air thats making me HIIIIIIGHHHHHH**\\~~
must be the ganja =)
TKD is a sport, not a real martial art.
I am totally not trying to be being a dick.
It is both great for you, and you can definitely
learn some techniques to HELP you fuck somebody up, MAYBE.
but it's simply not sophisticated nor free-form enough to work
in a street fight consistently, on any opponent.
Pick up Jeet kune do, study for 6 or 7 years.. then you
won't worry about being a kung fu master, you'll just
know anyone who messes with you is in for a BAD fucking day.
Best of luck to you in your adventures of ass-kickery,
just remember to be humble and don't initiate fights.
Later.

tokeymcdank, I have been doing tkd for 9 or 10 years now and I must say that I totally agree with you
If I got attacked by someone who is using tae kwon do I could defend myself and maybe even win
but i got in a fight once, through a few kicks and then got punched in the head
I lost
and thank you for being such a guru and knowing your shit and offering advice
you're a nice guy/girl
*okey tokey lets smoke out smokey
almost no one teaches jeet kun do
its just a philosophy to blend martial arts together for one great martial art. basically mma
take muy thai & jui jitsu
You're wrong on the first count, and the second point you made is irrelevant. It's the best martial art form, period. Who cares
if it blends different styles.
Oh, and it's certainly not just a philosophy. If you throw
a punch at a JKD master, it's not his philosophy that's
going to knock the shit out of you.
Here's a list of JKD schools for the person interested.

in the old days, you became a black belt by never washing your belt, and over time it would become black.
and you should take some actual fighting technique courses rather than tkd. i suggest jujitsu, or judo. but you're best off taking a bunch of courses, and combining them into a style that works for you.
yes, of course. you will have to fight many people, and some fellow masters of kung-fu. perhaps there will be a training montage, or maybe your master will be killed and you will avenge his death. all i know is this: beware the ghostface killer
Dude the UFC/MMA has been around since 1994. Kung Fu & TKD have aspects that work in real life but, if it's all you got, a real fighter will crush you. There's nothing wrong with Kung Fu or TKD, or in trying the reach the pinicle of those sports. However, if you want to win real fights, study MMA which is basicly Jeet Kune Do.
u aint sparred yet? it like kickboxing with helmets it really dont help much wit fightn but when i was in tkd i def. sparred like once every one er to weeks

Tae Kwon Do lacks real application because it concentrates so heavily on kata (form). I agree with those who say to take judo or jujitsu. Both of these arts utilize randori, a method of training where you fight someone using everything you know thus far in a controlled setting. Do randori four times a week and fighting someone who doesn't train judo/jujitsu will be like fighting a child.
Tae Kwon Do < Kung Fu
Kung Fu people kick people's asses man.
They go all Mantis or Tiger on you. Crazy.
