So what if someone could invent...

So what if someone could invent speakers that were loud but for only a few meters? Like, the sound waves would be destroyed or the anti-nodes collide so the sound wave would get fucked up and cancel out. Sound waves designed to self combust. That would be sick. Dance studios with 5 speakers going. Jam super loud without annoying neighbors. Or just blare some fucking awesome music at 1 am. That would be cool.

headphones damage your hearing after continuous use even at low volume, but I did see this thing somewhere where it only works when it's pointed at you, and it's used at Disney I believe for sum attraction (kinda like what they do at museums where you need to plug in your headphones into the jack, only better...). :]

Acura has speakers in some of there cars that cancel out engine noise ... saw that shit last night on a commercial. so yeah your idea prob could work

you could theoretically do this... if you put microphones in your walls and loud speakers on the other side and then.. with the same technology that noise canceling headphones have.. the sound gets distorted out side but remains the same inside.. but that would cost a whole shit loud of money!XD

They already have something like that in development. Imagine a beam of light down in one spot that you can sound in but nowhere else. Look it up it's cool, I heard about it when I was a senior in hs like 4 years ago.

they have invented a way of seperating sound into two inaudible sound wave. either wave can not be heard individually, but when standing in the area that the two converge it sounds like yuou are IN the speaker. last i heard there is a demo somewhere in the smithsonian. you can stand a couple feet from the sweat spot and hear nothing, but step foreward and threr you go. like a triangle, standing anywhere but where the point converges give you nothing.
