clocks...what for?

i hate to hear clocks ticking...it's just like counting down the time to my demise...why should there be clocks anywhere in around me?

And what's really REALLY annoying are those big ol' clocks that make a *bing* sound every hour ( I mean the ones "binging" up to 12 times when it's 12 o'clock).
