If you think about it humans haven't evolved much but dogs are learning new crazy shit all the time from their owners...for example I've seen a dog that knows words if you spell them out and it would go get the thing the owner spelled...and my dog can say "I love you"...are we just helping them evolve? Will they eventually be able to speak languages and get their own bowl of food if they want?

I don't know if that's our prime purpose, but if aliens happened to invade us, it would help to have the animal kingdom on our side.

I've always said that instead of killing animals we should learn to share with them and treat them like we would our own race.

We would help them if they are in danger (extinction/overpopulation/famine), and in return, they would help us if we were in danger (drowning, being attacked, finding help, carrying us to safety)

Imagine riding a rhinoceros or a tiger to work.
Or having a gorilla save your life by carrying you out of a burning forest.

The animals aren't getting any smarter. It just seems that way, because people are getting collectively less intelligent. The proof is in the pudding if you consider that weed used to be legal and now it is not. Think about it. If you think about the aliens, we wouldn't need the animal kingdom on our side. Who's to say that after we finished our jobs evolving "animals", the aliens come to our world and help US evolve and gain intelligence? And if our universe is seemingly infinite, every planet is going through their own evolution at their own rate monitored by the higher powered aliens. Who is the most developed and intelligent? So many differen worlds.. This shit is tripping me out

This makes me wonder what will become of humans. We are no longer adapters like every other animal, we are manipulators. instead of natural selection weeding out the weeker of the species, lets say those with an incurable disease, our technology allows that person to survive and pass on its genes. We have in a sense haulted our evolution.

Actually, we're stunting the evolution of dogs. When we enter them in those stupid fancy dog shows, there's a certain "breed standard" that the dogs have to follow, like dalmations having spots. But some are dangerous, and the breed standards require dogs to have certain genetic characteristics that are harmful to the dog. Even more harmful, inbreeding is extremely common among show dogs to create "genetically perfect" (quite the opposite) dogs. watched a special on it and it blew my mind, it's really worth researching!

Maybe some of you will find that interesting. :(

i agree, i think the point of life is to evolve, in many different ways
humans have been evolving primarily in their knowledge base and mental abilities
compare human technology to what we had 100 years ago, or even 20 years ago
we are evolving things other than physical attributes, because our bodies suit us just fine
we don't need wings to fly, or gills to swim under water, or even fur to stay warm
eventually our bodies might devolve in fact, if the masses stop caring about their physical abilities
we could end up a bunch of gray skinny humanoids with huge heads, much like some ideas of aliens in fact
maybe some aliens are humans from the future
maybe that's why the government covers up our findings, because if we all knew time travel was possible, it would probably ruin society
people would expect all major tragedies to entirely be rewritten, without realizing the importance of historical events
history is there to teach us from past mistakes and past success, if we lose our history, we lose our identity as human beings
maybe time travelers went back to egypt and other ancient times because they were more open to ideas of 'gods' and 'otherworldly creatures', and more able to accept the appearance from the unknown
it's like the difference between a 3 year old seeing an alien and a 30 year old
the 3 year old would think it must be a perfectly normal even, but the 30 year old would probably faint from shock

no. natural selection only helps populations reproduce over extremely long periods of time. in no way are you helping your dog reproduce. therefore it is not evolving. end.

Well my dogs not fixed...and if i decide to breed him I'd rather do it with another smart dog...so in a way it is like helping them evolve if i just keep eliminating dogs that are dumber than a box of rocks
