I tell them I'm a Possibilianism. I'm not saying there is a god...and im not saying god doesnt exist. There may or may not be a god, but who knows for sure, right? Anythings possible.

the 'world' has distorted the view of everything not just organized religion, for all we know jesus could be god and was just extremely misinterpreted and distorted over the hundreds and thousands of years, seriously, how did the pyramids in egypt get there? there's no logical explanation that can be explained with 100% foolproof evidence. many of our textbooks are guesses like who the fuck knows exactly what this general said to that one in the civil war or what people's true intentions were behind any major event in history. there has to be something out there, when u look at the world around u and experience feelings that are inexplicable, it's not just biology, logic, or science. there's a deep connection that is there between everything living on this earth be it plant animal or human

Your subconscious is your own god. You are not created. Nothing is. It just changes density and shape and form. Energy and matter are constant. The illusion of a "god" was a device by an ancient government to scare the people into abiding by the laws of the society.

i think what you're layin' down is called, "agnostic theism" is like, your not sure who or what is up there, you just know something is. there are different sects of agnosticism, like mine is "spiritual agnosticism", it is the complete neutrality in religion, this quote sums it up well, "Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones." -Marcus Aurelius

All im saying is that Stephen Hawking says there didnt need to be a god for the big bang to have happened. I know where you are coming from and I respect your opinions and rebuttals.

Honestly, just because a person is smart, doesn't make their opinion of the existence of God the correct one. The Big Bang is still just a theory, just like the Theory of Relativity or String Theory. I'm not saying he's wrong, but you have to open your mind a little bit and consider other angles of possibility.

Ya, its just a theory - kinda like the theory of gravity. We can't trust these things people!!!

germ theory is just a theory too, so are you okay with eating uncooked chicken? Or maybe those restaurant grades mean nothing to you? Theories go through a rigorous course to be labeled as such, and calling it 'just a theory' is a slap to the face of the scientific method. Please don't be disrespectful like that in the future, some of us take science very seriously, considering all the progress made from such theories.

God may or may not exist, but if a god does exist he certainly isn't a bearded man fighting Satan for our souls and playing jokes with people's lives and sacrificing his son to himself. God would simply be a set laws governing the way energies and matter interact within the universe, and who's to say that the fundamental elements of the universe and their behavior can be attributed to random chaos or a supreme entity. It's nonsense to think that god can have omnipotence, omniscience, and total control over all the universe and still have so much fucked up shit going on here. And if god exists the way the bible describes it then that is certainly no being that I would care to worship.

All in all there cannot be a purpose to life since we as single living conscious organisms choose to decide our own fate, whether we follow our basal instincts and just survive or choose to embrace altruism to its fullest extent are the two ends of the spectrum, introverts and extroverts.

We just are, there is no why.

there is a why man, and it's why we're here. to figure it out for ourselves. we've got basic science down, but there is so much we don't know. how the fuck did the egyptian pyramids get there? 2,300,000 stones in the big one!? holes drilled something equivalent to diamond-bit drills?! there's something going on way bigger than us

What's the point of knowing the universe's secrets if when it comes down to it, we simply can never comprehend them... Science will never come to a conclusion on why the universe exists or how it came to be, it is just something too complex to comprehend.

There is no why cause there can be no question. like "yep. That's it, we've figured it out. It turned out to be 42 the whole time. Guess I'll learn to wittle"

Fri, 10/12/2012 - 12:26pm
Locifer Says:

you feel the need for a why. you're here, enjoy it while you are, simple. you are the highest conscious being, look out for the little guy (little guy being lower conscious organisms). the pyramids, which are diamonds, we just see the top halves, were built by people who had a profound understanding of math in egypt. the greeks didn't do everything. never count out the ingenuity of man. the hanging gardens existed in a desert and was completely man-made. we're here because of probability and a unique situation. the chemical make up of our atmosphere is perfect for life, so boom, life! don't spend too much time asking why, when you could spend it doing something so incredible, future generations will ask, how?!

Thu, 10/11/2012 - 2:20am

Whether theres a god or not, does it really matter? Either way we're on our own. The only thing you can do in your very very short life is find something that brings you joy.

I wouldn't say i don't believe a god could exist. I just don't believe what we've been told about him. Or rather, i'm afraid what we've been told is true.

Fri, 10/12/2012 - 1:08am

That fear you have is directly from church dogma about a wrathful god. Propaganda if you will.
Weird to see it in action, making you doubt your own understanding of the way the universe actually works.

Mon, 10/15/2012 - 4:57pm

it really is weird. The thing that gets me is that Religion is the one thing that could possibly exist outside of any type of logic. It would trump any scientific understanding we have if it were true. But it is unknowable. Ultimately that's what makes me agnostic. I'll literally go crazy if i spend my life wondering about what if

The saying is true, the rich keeps getting richer while middle class struggle more and more. Yeah money is only made with the amount of gold we have. There's a machine that makes shit. For all we know, the ones who control the people who make the money just makes them print billions of dollars. Where does it all go? The rich? War? Then whatever is left is distributed to the rest. Money is really just paper, but its crazy how paper makes humans fight to get every last dollar there is. They control us. Religion? I think religion is meant as a way to accept death. Think about it, if there was no religion, people would be scared to accept death. If there really was a God, don't you think there would be only one religion? There's hundreds of different kinds. The u.s lets us believe whatever we want. Religion has distorted the way we think. Its a way of controlling us. We are humans and we are supposes to reproduce. However religion has made seem it a moral sin if we just want to fuck a little. Anyways ibwas going somewhere with this bit I lost my train of thought cuz I had to feed my dog jaha

If your speaking about the US, then your wrong. The US doesn't base its currency off of gold anymore, or any resource. We just fucking print more when we run out. Thats why we are a dying country. I like your thoughts though, you should look into the zeitgeist movement, the venus project, or jacque fresco. There are many people like you, including myself, who know and see that the world is fucked up and its time to make some major adjustments.

Yess, my EXACT philosophy! i used to consider myself an agnostic, but that just describes more accurately my views of existence.

I think agnosticism just deals with the question of whether or not god exists...whereas "possibilianism" is stepping out beyond that and looking at an even larger picture. when i learn about string theory, quantum physics, buddhism, or anything theoretical/philosophical I feel like I'm miles and miles away from theology.
