The more we fuck with our environment the more it retaliates. We burnt too much fossil fuel and our ozone layer got a hole in it. We cut down too many trees so the balance between our greenhouse gases is out of whack, which causes the earth to get warmer, which causes more trees to grow, and get the gas levels back to normal. We built New Orleans below sea-level in a hurricane-heavy area, and wouldn't you know it? it flooded? who woulda thought???? Japan builds massive nuclear powerplants just miles from an earthquake fault? and oh my god what do you know???? the earthquake caused a huge meltdown????? who would ever guess that would happen?
When the human body gets something in it that does damage, our immune system gets rid of it. We'll get a fever and raise our body temperature enough so the illness can't survive. We'll cough like hell to get a peice of dust (or even smoke) out of our lungs. If we eat something rotten, we'll throw up to get it out of our body.
The earth's climate works just like our bodies immune systems. if something is out of whack, some natural process comes in to cancel it out. if the ocean gets too warm, the earth conjures up a hurricane to spread the heat to colder places. If global temperatures rise too much, ice caps will melt and the mixture of that cold water with warm will cause huge storms in order to balance it out. And now, we've fucked with the earth so much that global temperatures HAVE started to rise, and can you guess what someone's solution to that is?...
Did you know there has actually been serious thought about putting a massive sun-blocking sattelite in outer space to help "reverse" global warming? i'm serious, they are actually considering it. If this happens we have absolutely no way of knowing how the earth's climate will react. sure, it will get colder. but the earth's climate will try to fix itself. People think the only thing that will happen is that temperatures will drop and it will fix global warming? NO! the earth does not want us fucking with it, and it will always have a natural process to fix itself. Storms happen when one place is colder than another: the storm develops in order to try to keep the temperatures in balance. If we block out sunlight and drop the earth's temperature, you know what could happen? We're talking massive storms. Storms we've never even seen before. Imagine a storm so powerful that it could churn up the entire ocean in order to try to spread the equatorial heat to the rest of the globe.
The earth is much much more powerful than us, and we must learn to respect it, because if we fuck with it too much, it's immune system will try to get rid of us. If Earth is a living being, the human race is the tapeworm in it's ass, and if we start to cause too many problems (like blocking half of the sunlight from even reaching earth), it's only a matter of time before the earth will try to get rid of us.

Awesome highdea, wasn't expecting one in the popular section

I've always thought of the earth as a living being, it fits all the criteria

I've been linking this a lot but it's so true and relates 100% to what you're saying The only reason we're here is to give the earth what it couldn't create naturally. Once we create it, our purpose is no more and we can be phased out.

WHOA. YES. I've never once thought of it like that. Fucking genius. Very well explained!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I heard somewhere (on some scientific video or something) that humans only cause 2% of the earths greeenhouse gasses. if this is true then that would mean its just earth starting over/refreshing itself. So that the only thing left would be land. I'm not saying global warming is fake, but maybe the reasons people explain it as is fake? This is going to happen one day anyway, it is inevitable.

This is such a mindfuck haha holy shit

The earth is alive. Maybe not *quite* the way we understand "alive" to be, but it is.

Holy fuck global warming IS NOT REAL!!! I mean fucking Christ.

Tue, 12/27/2011 - 10:43pm

Holy fuck you are IGNORANT!! I mean fucking Christ. lol

do some real research instead of being brainwashed. global warming is real, and you denying it isnt going to make it go away.

yes but everything we've done to earth isnt exaclty helping

the earth (and mother nature) tolerates us. Think about it. Were the only species that jumps through hoops to survive. Every other species on earth knows sleep, eat, reproduce. They get shit done quick and efficient. We on the other hand, get jobs to make money, to buy food, so we can survive. So inefficient.

That is a great idea but has anyone thought that this is just the cycles of the earth. You know it goes ice age then the age we have been living in and then a hot age where the tempature gets higher. I'm just not sure because we haven't been civilized long enough to know about the cycles of earth but you know just a crackpot theory.

Don't tell me (if this didn't have any negative effects) it would be fucking awesome like 12 hour or so nights

Idk this is trippy

wow. so much say on this and im so high its overwhelming but ima give it a try, i just hope you guys dont think im crazy cuz i want you to know that i love you all ( some of the hateful people not so much)...we'll some people dont think we're from here, where did all the old civilizations go/proof of their disapearance? where did our mysterious 15% of dna come from? if we evolved why did promagnum and not cromagnum, the other neanderthal or whatever evolve, and is bigfooot and all his other alias' the last of a colony that managed so stay hidden during some sort of prehistoric holocaust when aliens possibly interfered with our planet? shit is so fucked up with global warming also maybe becuz of haarp. if you dont know it look it up. before the haiti earthquake an aurora was sited. nikolai tesla and a couple other names contributed to this technology and i believe that some of them were former german scientists taken after world war 2 and roswell, that later became some of the first names of nasa engineers. why are they shutting down the shuttle program? to redesign maybe but there's rumors that they are privatizing space flight and if some crazy shit goes down and your not rich your not gona get a flight unless you work there. just like the movie 2012, (i know a lil crazy with that), the point is people, we can do this, we're America, ( if your an international highdea member salute to you too) This country was to suppose to be for escaping all worries and being free. I dont know all the steps but i know that we should embrace the earth as our friend we could start producing our own biofuels like brazil and make electricity free with solar, wind, wave, and magnetic generators. I'm just sayin, if the revolution ever needs me im here lol , but the earth really does have an iimune system, haarp, taps into it, proof it exits is the fungal species Cryptococcus neoformans, it was discovered growing at the site of the Chernobyl disaster, its a mushroom that eats the radiation and produces melanin which is what is produced in our skin to fight against uvb radiation as well.

the earth is supposed to heat up and cool down naturally, though too, its not all our fault. if you look to the past you will see there were periods of time when all of siberia was desert, a time when all of the earth was 60% hotter. but there have also been periods of time when the earth was 75% colder than today. humans werent around then cause we couldnt survive in the climate, but it changed and we came to be, but eventually the climate will change again, naturally, and we may not be able to survive, and it may be our fault, but us fucking with nature may actually all be part of nature and the way things are supposed to go. but either way, whether it was in the past when all the sabertooths died and then when the dinosaurs died, or in the future, when we may all die, something new and good always comes after a great death toll, the earth doesnt give up easily.
