I was talking to my friend whose a developer at a big company(lets say it rhymes with ficrosoft) and he was telling me about stuff they were developing. He told me that they already have the next two gaming systems developed(it rhymes with sexbox). I asked him why they dont tell anyone, and he said its because there current product is still selling and they want it to keep selling.

So that got me thinking. What other products already have some crazy new stuff developed that they wont release for a while? Like is there a new type of computer? Is there a new way to watch dvd's or movies? New phones that do crazy new stuff?

And then I really got thinking... are there cures to common and not so common health issues? But we arent given these cures, because the medicine's that temporarily cure or treat the desease are selling and making these corporations money. I mean, if they cured cancer, its gone and your healthy. BUT, treating cancer is an ongoing thing, and keeps making them money.

My friend told me to not tell anyone about this, because of company secrecy issues, but I figured doing the exact opposite and posting it on the internet wouldnt hurt.

oh and friendly stoner reminder: Cheech and chong are going to be on The Simpsons tonight. Should be hilarious!

I always feel like a dick cause I won't support "finding the cure" for anything, because it's all bullshit. Think about the millions that have been donated to Susan G Komen foundation for breast cancer. And are we any closer to the "cure" no, because it's prolly really simple and cheap to cure...

And I'm not even gonna get into the whole prostate and testicular cancer vs brest cancer, funding thing...

"but I figured doing the exact opposite and posting it on the internet wouldnt hurt" - not gonna lie, I laughed at that.

I'm totally with you on this for the most part, but I suspect if a cure for cancer were found, they actually would publicize that, just because it's such a huge and ongoing issue. Plus if one group or company had the secret to curing cancer, they could make so much money off that it isn't even funny.

Health care industry is a trillion dollar industry. People take drugs for problems they dont have. They become addicted to them, its a placebo effect. If they created a cure, Im not so sure they would be willing to sell it(even though like you said they would make soo much money off it). Because maybe, there making more money off of selling the pills to treat problems, more so than cure tham

Im not saying this theory is right. Its just a possibility.

Venatrix Says:

I agree. I guess it could go either way--there's a lot of money in both, but I like to be optimistic and think that people will ultimately care more about saving lives (and improving the quality of those lives) than money. But it is a greedy world.

I think another option would be making the cure available, but much more expensive even than treatment.

Mon, 03/14/2011 - 1:07am

Ok, I totally agree whit you thatthey probably have hidden cures for SOME diseases-but not cancer. Thousands of scientists dedicate there entire lives to finding a cure to cancer. If they had found a cure by now, I'm sure we would know about it.

Felipe8 Says:

Dude, the whole placebo effect thing he was talking about like, they give you a drug for a problem that you dont have, which causes you to believe you have that problem which causes the actual problem to happen. Its not exactly the placebo effect but it is very similar.

And things are definetly invented way before they are released to the public, thats how it all works. plus they need a while after the product is invented to figure out marketing policies, business strategies and to do testing and improvements

You're the idiot. They call that the placebo after the placebo effect. Placebo isn't even always used with medicinal things. It just means that your brain is tricked into thinking something's either working or not working when it's not. Just like you can make yourself feel sick even when your not just by being paranoid. So yoinkie's actually right.

They found a cure. Hemp oil. Not even joking. Youtube "Rick Simpson Cancer Cure" and there's like 7 parts. Totally true though!!

Mon, 03/14/2011 - 1:12am

If there is a cure id be pretty sad that people are keeping it to themselves just for money.. If i found the cure and couldent make any money from it i wouldent care.. i would be saving millions of lives thats my reward

Weed cures cancer, cancer are just cells that went astray and began developing a new organism inside the original host. Its not being in tune...Stress out too much plus everything in america has cancer(Flouride, corn syrup, ect.) ("B cure" is another cancer killa)

Most technology comes from the military. unfortunately, we will always be about 100 years behind the military.

Munky Says:

Possible but unlikely. If a cure did exist, the results from the clinical trials would have been published. Also, the efficacy of the active ingredients within these drugs would probably have been verified by independent sources (universities and such). Besides, think about how much the company's stock value would rise if they were to announce that they had found a cure. Nevertheless, an intriguing highdea....corporate America sucks donkey balls.

Mon, 03/14/2011 - 4:20pm

The trials would be published if they wanted to. If they're trying to wait, that information is confidential for potential buyers only. If something goes commercial, the results would be published. A company interested in stock is a corporate thing. There's MANY private investors/businesses with enough money to pull a huge project.

The difference is: a company would release clinical trials and have stock if it's going to be an ongoing thing for that company. A private research group would make all their money on one large purchase, so they don't care about stock and if they released clinical trials, the public *might* revolt against the individuals. Since they aren't a government, they can't handle that. On that note, a government could theoretically take those people into possession and steal their research if they wanted to.

I'm not a conspirator, but you HAVE to leave open the possibility.

They've already found a "cure" to multiple types of cancer and are in the process of testing it. I'm not surprised that NOBODY outside of alberta has never heard of this. Problem is, DCA is cheap and won't net the big pharmaceutical companies any profit.

the sad thing is that stem cell research has found what they believe to be a cure to A.I.D.S and lymphoma but thanks to Bush and the legslation that made it illegal to do research on unspecialized stem cells we are 8 years behind what we should be.

You're absolutely right about a couple things: There's a paint developed that enhances TV projectors to plasma clarity, you can make the screen the size you want, and it's cheaper than most high end tvs.

They've successfully made a quantum computer (faster, smaller, energy efficient, better, and all 10fold) that can imitate any conventional computer faster, plus has the possibility for more than a computer can do. Example: It calculates prime numbers without doing the math to check it, so it can decrypt anything encrypted with a conventional computer, significantly faster than a human can, and with 100% accuracy. The processor can be made in the micrometer range.

You talked about cell phones? We just recently got smartphones, but pocket PCs only needed a wireless transmitter to handle about what they do today. They've been on market for what, 12 years?

It's straightforward to me why it's done, and even more so when the government's paying for it. If the public knows about something, the whole world does and you lose your advantage.

Mon, 03/14/2011 - 7:26pm

First of all, I would just like to point out that I have been on highdeas for quite some time (just made an account today though) and have noticed that yoinkie is kinda like the King of Highdeas... seriously dude I like all your posts and dont even realize it. when I go back to look at the ones I like I realize theyre all you.

Secondly, yea the government sucks. But its also because of big business. Independent companies have smaller research teams and less funding and are developing amazing things but they dont get recognized till the big companies come out with them. Like puget systems have developed a aquarium pc that uses mineral oil to cool the computer which is more energy efficient. Whenever I tell my friends they look at me like "that could never happen"... its cool check it out if you dont believe it (its crazy expensive though) http://www.pugetsystems.com/aquarium-computer.php

I mean if the big companies didnt have such control over the market we would have technology as it comes out.

As far as the medical theory I have thought the same thing. There is over population and if the government really has control over the cure for cancer I can totally see them holding back.

Honestly I'm afraid our world may turn into the one in idocracy the movie... its terrifying. I don't want to have kids if theyre going to be in a world like that.

Mon, 03/14/2011 - 7:55pm

if you actually get down to reading this, my father works for BioRad and he works in the sector that has already developed a cure for type 1 diabetes among other unreleased drug cures. It takes YEARS of testing before they would release such a product to the world. It is sad, because so many people will die within that span.

**Another one is my dad knows a man who is testing with this bacteria that can turn the malignant cancer cells on themselves thus having the cancer attack itself. it is outlawed in many states, but the few that are actually testing the method have had nothing but positive results
