Yes! I do this. If someone told me to put aside a couple hundred dollars out of each paycheque I wouldn't be able to do it... but you don't tend to notice a few bucks here and there. The best is when you leave the change jar alone for a few months and then you roll up four or five hundred bucks in coins!
